Home Theater: Shopping for
Movie Theater Quality Sound
There are movies I love to
watch over and over again. There are television series I love
and I purchase the DVDs so I can watch them over and over again
without the commercial interruptions. The movie DVDs I purchase
are in widescreen and have surround sound. Some of the
television series are in high definition. To meet my viewing
needs, surround sound was necessary for our home theater
system.
A good surround sound system heightens your
viewing experience when you are watching movies at home. If you
are building your home theater system on a budget, you can
build it component by component. You can always upgrade to
better pieces of equipment as your budget allows it.
Speakers are very important in surround sound.
You may want to start by purchasing two or three high quality
speakers and adding three more later. There are a number of box
kits that contain components for the home theater system such
as a receiver, a subwoofer, and a couple of speakers.
Before purchasing your surround sound
components, you should do your research. Read product
reviews, look through magazines, visit your local
audio-video stores and do not forget the Internet. You can
get some items cheaper on the Internet.
You should go to a local retail store that
sells audio equipment. High-end stores will have a listening
room. Start by listening to low-end components and then move up
to the high-end components. If you are on a budget, starting at
the high-end will almost ensure that you will exceed your
budget. When you get to the speakers that really excite you,
note the name, model number, and manufacturer. Research your
choice on the Internet. You will find some bargains.
Shop around in your local community. Sometimes
retailers will match or lower the price of their competitors or
throw in a freebie such as free installation. It does not hurt
to try. When you decide to buy, take your research with you.
Some retailers will compete with the price you see on the
Internet. It does not hurt to try.
You should get the best quality home theater
sound system you can afford.
